“And so women began shaving their legs for the first time”

And the curse never ended…

0:50 It might have been on QI, but I remember hearing that one English monarch (Elizabeth I, maybe?) demanded that men of the court double up their hose because she disliked the sight of their leg hairs sticking through. 😀 Not sure if it’s true, but I find it rather amusing, nevertheless.

I’d love to wear that style. Modest, but still very attractive.

“Wow that’s a great cardigan I really wish I could knit–” “If you would like to create any of the knitwear you’ve seen yourself, you can find many of these patterns in our book.” Well, I guess you guys know your audience! Lovely video, as always

All of your “dressing” videos are so fascinating. I’m so excited when a new one comes out! There are several sweaters that I would buy and wear. Do you have any links or resource information for people you know who knit these sweaters, if they sell them, or where I could find them? I would love to support them. They are beautiful. Thanks!

I’m a WW1 British officer reenactor and although I’m on the ‘male’ side I absolutely love those videos showing different period outfits. They’re so extremely well made and staged! It’s right in my interest!

Could you do some series on men’s clothes of this period? Also, I think one covering men’s and women’s clothing of the 1920’s and 1930’s would be interesting as well. The more detailed the better, thank you.

Maybe it’s just me but I want to go back to the fashion of the first half of the 20th century. I much prefer modest fashion over this barely there trend our generation has adapted.

I never thought i would become interested in how women used to dress. But that’s it. And thanks for the video again

I found this video very interesting, and wonderfully made too – the narrating voice is soothing and warm, and accompanies the video very well! For one, I didn’t know corsets were pretty much rejected in this time period, though it definitely makes sense in context. I was wondering, though, how young ladies with bigger chests would support their breasts, as all the lovely ladies in this video have smaller chests and therefore not much to be supported by those light chemises.
