Holi Diaries: 2017


So today is Holi! It is the festival of colours in India, and is considered a major festival in the country. A saying in Bengali goes along the lines of ‘বারোমাসে তের পার্বণ’ (baro mashe tero parbon) which literally translated in English means that Indians celebrate 13 festivals in 12 months. It is apt for our country, and it is harmless to admit that we do celebrate a lot more than 13 festivals in 12 months!

We do have a lot of fun on this day, from buying colours ‘আবীর’ (aabir) to putting them on each others faces. I cannot say about North India because I haven’t visited it during Holi, but in Bengal we do celebrate it with a lot of exuberance.

10.45 am : The morning started like any other, and I am waiting for my friends to come out of their homes to play…
