Sao Paulo Project

MASP is one of the most famous landmarks of Sao Paulo. Its design is unique, being recognized no matter what angle one sees it from. The museum was a creation of the minds of Assis Chateaubriand and Pietro Maria Bardi. Bardi and Chateaubriand collected pieces of art in Europe, mostly, and decided to have the museum built in Sao Paulo, for it was the most important city in Brazil at the time –economically speaking.

Lina Bo Bardi, the woman behind the design of the museum, was also responsible for the architectural design of MAM, the Museum of Modern Art, which is inside Ibirapuera Park.
