A few short weeks ago, I lamented the lack of easy to eat, super tasty take away food in Manchester, the kind you can inhale on your way to after work drinks, and late night dessert places to mop up your excesses on the way back to bed. Ask and you shall receive, it seems. Since posting a piece extolling the virtues of Slice and detailing my hunt for a late night ice cream shop, several superb solutions have come to light.
Burritos from Panchos in the Arndale Food Market (my most adored food destination in the whole of Manchester) and frozen yoghurt from Frurt over in Spinningfields are two offerings both worthy of a mention, with the former serving up brick-sized Mexican treats for around £5 and the latter offering up both dairy and soya based delights, with a plethora of sprinkles to jazz up the four flavours they change on a regular basis.
Imagine my joy however, when I received word about the opening of a dedicated gelateria on Oxford Road, going by the name of Fresco Freddo’s. Unable to attend the launch event prior to the grand opening, I was kindly invited along with my gorgeous friend Hannah a week later to try out the gelato on offer, so as one is wont to do on such occasions, I made a night of it.
